The Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta is excited to bring Autism Speaks to the Rider University campus community. The world's largest autism advocacy organization, Autism Speaks is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and to advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
Our Sisters look forward to increasing autism awareness on our campus and working with Autism Speaks. With one in 150 children diagnosed with autism and no known cure, Alpha Xi Delta is committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by autism. We hope our fundraising and awareness efforts can help put one more piece of the autism puzzle in place.
An official announcement of our partnership with Autism Speaks took place April 2, 2009, which is also known as Universal Autism Awareness Day. The sisters here at Epsilon Lambda were invited by our national headquarters to help announce and represent Alpha Xi’s from all over the country with this exciting news on the Today Show! Epsilon Lambda is very excited to work with the Autism Speaks organization as many of our active sisters are studying or teaching in the field of special education and/ or are a part of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC-an organization that works with children who have special needs) on the Rider University campus.
